The Truth About You

1Th 5:23(MSG)  May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together--spirit, soul, and body--and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.

Heb 4:12(GW)  God's word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God's word judges a person's thoughts and intentions.

1. You are a Spirit

Gen. 1:27. John 4:24

Pro 18:14(MSG)  A healthy spirit conquers adversity, but what can you do when the spirit is crushed?

1Co 2:11
(GNB)  It is only our own spirit within us that knows all about us; in the same way, only God's Spirit knows all about God.

2.You have a Soul

Mar 8:36(KJV)  For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Rom 12:2(GW)  Don't become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants-what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

3.You Live in a Body

Rom 12:1(GW)  Brothers and sisters, in view of all we have just shared about God's compassion, I encourage you to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, dedicated to God and pleasing to him. This kind of worship is appropriate for you.

2Co 4:16(GNB)  For this reason we never become discouraged. Even though our physical being is gradually decaying, yet our spiritual being is renewed day after day.

Bottom Line:1Th 5:23(MSG)  May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together--spirit, soul, and body--and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.

Happy Birthday Jesus

1. It is His Birthday.

Luke 2:15-16(NLT)When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger.

2. But He gave us something

Eph 2:8(GW)  God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God.

Eph 2:8(MSG)  Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It's God's gift from start to finish!

3.  Let's give Jesus a present. . . .  Us

1 Cor 10:31(NLT)  So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Bottom Line: Let's thank Jesus for what He did!

Col 3:17(MSG)  Let every detail in your lives--words, actions, whatever--be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.

What Praise Does to the Lord

1. God loves our praise

Psalms 22:3(AMP)But You are holy, O You Who dwell in the holy place where the praises of Israel are offered.

Rev 7:15  And so they stand before the throne of God and worship him in his temple day and night. The one who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.

2.Our praise loves God

Luke 19:37-40(NLT)When he(Jesus) reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen. “Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord!Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!” He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”

3. Our praise moves God

Psalms 145:18-19(AMP)The Lord is close

to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth. He will fulfill the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.
Acts 2:46-47(NLT)They worshipped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
Something to Think About: Praise is our most powerful weapon!!!!

What Praise Does to the devil

1. The devil is self centered.

Isaiah 14:12-14(NKJ)How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart:‘ I will ascend into heaven,I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’

2 Thes. 2:4(NIV)He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

2. The devil is a loser

Col. 2:15(NCV)God stripped the spiritual rulers and powers of their authority. With the cross, he won the victory and showed the world that they were powerless.

1 John 2:13(NCV)I write to you, fathers, because you know the One who existed from the beginning. I write to you, young people, because you have defeated the Evil One.

The devil is powerless because he only thinks about himself !!

Something to Think about: A self centered person is a weak person

3. We are Praise centered.

Eph. 1:3(NLT) All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

Psalms 145:1-2(NLT)I will praise you every day;yes, I will praise you forever.

Luke 24:53(NLT)And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God.

4. We are Winners

Acts 16:23-24(NLT)

Acts16:25-26(NLT)Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.

Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell of

Something to Think About: A praise centered person is a strong, victorious, blessed person.

What Praise Does to the Believer!(Part 2)

1. Praise was Joshua's Victory!!!

Joshua 6:16,20

(NLT)The seventh time around, as the priests sounded the long blast on their horns, Joshua commanded the people, "Shout! For the Lord has given you the town! When the people heard the sound of the rams’ horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.

2. Praise was Gideon's Victory!!!(300-vs-120,000: 400 to 1)

Judges 7:20-22

(NLT) The three companies also blew their rams' horns and broke their jars. They held the torches in their left hands and the rams' horns in their right hands so that they could blow them. They shouted, "A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!" While each man kept his position around the camp, everyone in the Midianite camp began to run away, screaming as they fled.

The 300 men kept on blowing their rams' horns, and the LORD caused the whole camp of Midian to fight among themselves. They fled as far as Beth Shittah, toward Zererah, and as far as the bank of the stream at Abel Meholah near Tabbath.

3.Praise is my Victory!!!

Psalms 8:2

(CEV)With praises from children and from tiny infants, you have built a fortress. It makes your enemies silent, and all who turn against you are left speechless.

Something to Think About: Are you a winner or a whinner?

What Praise does to the Believer!

1. Praise is Your Strength

Psalms 28:7(NLT)The Lord is my strength and shield.I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Psalms 43:5(NLT)Why am I discouraged? Why am I restless? I trust you! And I will praise you again because you help me, and you are my God.

Psalms 50:23(MSG)It's the praising life that honors me. As soon as you set your foot on the Way, I'll show you my salvation."

2.Praise is Your Focus

Psalms 61:8(NLT)Then I will sing praises to your name forever as I fulfill my vows each day.

Psalm 71:8(NLT)That is why I can never stop praising you;I declare your glory all day long.

3. Praise is Your Answer

Psalms 118:21(AMP)I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You, for You have heard and answered me; and You have become my Salvation and Deliverer.

Psalms 22:3(NLT)Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.

Psalms 100:4(NLT)Enter His gates with thanksgiving;go into His courts with praise.Give thanks to Him and praise His name.

Something to Think About: Psalms 104:33(NLT)I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.I will praise my God to my last breath!

A Protected Heart(mind):Protected at all Costs

1.Keep it Safe

1 Pet 1:5(NLT)And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

2Th 3:3(MSG) But the Master never lets us down. He'll stick by you and protect you from evil.

Psa 145:20(NLT)The Lord protects all those who love him, but he destroys the wicked.

2. Keep it Full

Act 6:8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Rom. 15:14(NLT)I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them.

Eph. 5:18(NLT)Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,

3.Keep it Clean

Eph. 5:25b-26(NLT) He(Jesus) gave up His life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.

Tit 3:5(NLT)He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

Heb 10:22(NLT)For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

Prov. 4:23(NLT)Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Something to think about: Your mind is a terrible thing to waste.

A Protected Heart(mind): Less is More

1. Less Fear=More Results

Prov. 28:1(NLT)Wicked people run away when no one chases them, but those who live right are as brave as lions.

Mark 11:23(NLT)I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.

2. Fear erases Faith

Mat 8:26(NLT)Jesus responded, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!" Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.

Mark 4:40(NLT)Then he asked them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

3. Fear, Get out of Here

Heb. 13:6(NLT)So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper,so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?

2 Tim. 1:7(NLT)For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Something to think about:Micah 3:8(NLT)But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord.

What are you full of?

A Protected Heart(mind) : Stop The Unbelief

Prov. 4:20-27(CEV)My child, listen carefully to everything I say. Don't forget a single word, but think about it all. Knowing these teachings will mean true life and good health for you. Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life.

Mark 6:5-6(NLT)Jesus could not heal them all, because of their unbelief
Mark 16:14(NLT) Jesus got all over the disciple, because of their unbelief
Mat 17:15-20(KJV)Unbelief stopped them
v20(MSG)"Because you're not yet taking God seriously," said Jesus. "The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, 'Move!' and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn't be able to tackle."

Rom. 4:18-21(KJV)Because Abraham had,no unbelief, He was unstoppable
Rom 4:18-21(MSG) When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn't do but on what God said he would do. And so he was made father of a multitude of peoples. God himself said to him, "You're going to have a big family, Abraham!"
Abraham didn't focus on his own impotence and say, "It's hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child." Nor did he survey Sarah's decades of infertility and give up.
He didn't tiptoe around God's promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said.
How did Abraham, stop the unbelief?
He plunged into the promise he gave glory,(his thoughts) to God and His Words
Rom 4:20(KJV)He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; Glory-honour, praise, worship,to think
Abraham, decided to think ONLY God's thoughts
Isa 55:7-9(CEV)Give up your crooked ways and your evil thoughts. Return to the LORD our God. He will be merciful and forgive your sins. The LORD says: "My thoughts and my ways are not like yours. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, my thoughts and my ways are higher than yours.
Abraham considered only God's thoughts Gen 15:5 "Count the stars"
Eph. 4:23(NLT)
Abraham focused his thoughts on God's Words
Eph. 4:23(AMP)And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude],
Eph. 4:23(CEV)Let the Spirit change your way of thinking
Bottom Line: Rom. 8:6(NLT) You let your mind think the world's thoughts or God's thoughts, it is your choice. What are you gonna think? Zoe- God kind of life

A Protected Heart(mind)

Pro 4:20-27(MSG) Dear friend, listen well to my wordstune your ears to my voiceKeep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they're bursting with health. Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that's where life starts. Don't talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.

1 Cor. 6:11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Holy- to purify mentally
2Co 6:14 Don't become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That's not partnership; that's war. Is light best friends with dark?
2Co 6:15 Does Christ go strolling with the devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands?

Eph. 4:23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

2 Cor 10:3-5 We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

What are God's mighty weapons.
1. His Word Job 23:12(NLT)God's Word more important than food
2. Praise and Worship Psalms 22:3(NLT) God lives in our Praise and Worship
3. Prayer Acts 4:31(NLT) The building shook
4. Church Heb 10:23-25(NLT)Going to church is important
Bottom Line. Rom 12:2 Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

A Protected Heart: Keep It Clean

Prov. 4:20-23

(CEV)My child, listen carefully to everything I say. Don't forget a single word, but think about it all. Knowing these teachings will mean true life and good health for you. Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life.

Eph. 5:25-27(NLT)

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.

Holy- to purify mentally

1 Cor. 6:11(NLT)

Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Holy- to purify mentally

So How do we keep our minds clean?

2Co 6:14(MSG)

Don't become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That's not partnership; that's war. Is light best friends with dark?

2Co 6:15

Does Christ go strolling with the devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands?

Eph. 4:23(NLT)

Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

2 Cor 10:3-5(NLT)

We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

3. Prayer Acts 4:31(NLT) The building shook

4. Church Heb 10:23-25(NLT)Going to church is important

Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Let's all keep our thoughts clean, by thinking about God's email to us(The Bible)

Heb 10:38(KJV) Now the just shall live by faith:
Heb 11:6(KJV)But without faith it is impossible to please him:

Mark 11:23(NLT) Say to this mountain

Notes from September 20th -- You Already Have It Part 2

1. It's in there

Eph. 1:3(NLT) All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

Eph. 1:13(MSG)It's in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit.

Spiritual-supernatural,Zoe life-God kind of life. We should be living a God kind of life, because, God has already given us everything, that He has to offer.Where are these gifts and this God kind of life?

All of these gifts and this God kind of life are in our spirits. What kind of gifts and life  are we talking about?

 2. What is it?

Gal. 5:22-23 (NLT) But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Col. 2:15(CEV) There Christ defeated all powers and forces. He let the whole world see them being led away as prisoners when he celebrated his victory.
Col 2:15(KJV) triumphing(to frighten)
Col 2:15(MSG) He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.
2Co 2:14(MSG) And I got it, thank God! In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade.

1 Cor. 15:57(AMP)But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 John 5:4(NLT)
Rom. 8:37(NLT)
The devil is the biggest loser of all time, How do we enforce our victory?
Jas 4:7(MSG) So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper.
Jas 4:7(GW) So place yourselves under God's authority. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you.
Mat. 18:18(NLT)
Bottom Line: Isa. 14:12-19(KJV)

(MSG)But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

Sounds great!!! So how do I get to these gifts? How do I live a God kind of life?

3. The Key

Gal 5:16(AMP)But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).

Walk-live, be occupied with

Gal. 5:25 (NLT)Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Bottom Line:How do we walk in the spirit? We walk in the spirit by focusing our thoughts on God's thoughts.

Notes from September 13th -- You Already Have It Part 1

Philemon 1:6 (NLT)
And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Good Things- Beautiful, Valuable,Virtous, Better.

Philemon 1:6 (AMP)
[And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory].

Eph. 1:3 (NLT)
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Spiritual- Supernatural, Zoe(God kind of Life)

2 Peter 1:4(NLT)
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. Precious-Valuable,costly, money paid.

Rom. 8:16-17 (NLT)
For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Heir-a person who inherits or is entitled to inherit the rank, title, position, etc., of another.

Rom. 4:13(NLT)
Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.

Thanks for investing some of your time discovering that we are already blessed. Join us next week as we discover the balance between grace and faith.

Eph. 2:8-9(NKJV)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. It is not about how good we are, it is about our Faith in God's GRACE. First let's look at God's grace.

Acts 20:24 (NLT)
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. Grace-cheerful,calm,happy,glad,joy,undeserved favor and mercy.

Rom. 5:15 (INLT)
But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.

Rom. 5:15(MSG)
Yet the rescuing gift is not exactly parallel to the death-dealing sin. If one man's sin put crowds of people at the dead-end abyss of separation from God, just think what God's gift poured through one man, Jesus Christ, will do! There's no comparison between that death-dealing sin and this generous, life-giving gift.

Rom. 6:14 (NLT)
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. So know we understand God's Grace, know let's find out about Faith. But first...

Heb. 11:6 (NLT)
We have faith in what God has done, not in what we have done.

Heb. 11:6(MSG)
It's impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him.

Rom 1:17
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life. God has already done His part(GRACE), We have to do our part(FAITH). So how do we believe(FAITH) that God has alraedy blessed us?

Rom. 10:17 (NLT)
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. We hear the Good News about God by, reading the Bible, praying, reading good books about God, being at WCWC on Sunday and Thursday. So we have looked at Grace(God's part) and Faith (our part), now lets see how they work together.

Rom. 3:23-25(NLT)
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness(grace), declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe(have faith) that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past.

Rom. 5:2 (NLT)
Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege(grace) where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We hear the Good News about Christ at WCWC, that is why it is so important to be at WCWC on Sunday and Thursday. We should also have a daily time with God. What ever we spend the most time doing, we will respond to that the easiest. If we spend more time, watching TV, playing video games, on the computer, we will respond to that more easly. If we invest more time with God by, reading His Word, praying to Him, being at WCWC on Sunday and Thursdy, then we will respond to God more easily! Today we discovered how God's Grace and our faith work together. Join us next week as we discover how to be "In The Spirit!

Notes from September 6th -- Doubt :The Enemy of Faith

Doubt- Lack of faith,Faithless

Mat. 14:26-31(NLT) Doubt erases Faith(What they saw)

Mat 17:15-21(KJV)(NLT)Because of your unbelief(what they saw)

Mat. 13:57-58(NLT)

Mark 11:23(AMP)Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.

Heb 3:12(CEV)My friends, watch out! Don't let evil thoughts or doubts make any of you turn from the living God.

Heb. 3:19(AMP)So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest], because of their unwillingness to adhere to and trust in and rely on God [unbelief had shut them out].

How do we live a life without doubt? (MSG)

Rom 4:19 Abraham didn't focus on his own impotence and say, "It's hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child." Nor did he survey Sarah's decades of infertility and give up.

Rom 4:20 He didn't tiptoe around God's promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God,

Rom 4:21 sure that God would make good on what he had said.

Rom 4:22 That's why it is said, "Abraham was declared fit before God by trusting God to set him right."

Rom 4:23 But it's not just Abraham;

Rom 4:24 it's also us! The same thing gets said about us when we embrace and believe the One who brought Jesus to life when the conditions were equally hopeless.

  1. Don't focus on the Challenge v19
  2. Read the Email(Word) v20
  3. Give God first place v20

Luke 18:27(MGS)No chance at all," Jesus said, "if you think you can pull it off by yourself. Every chance in the world if you trust God to do it."

#3. How do we use Faith?

Mark 11:23(NLT) Say to this mountain
Faith speaks

James 2: 17,20,26(KJV) Faith without works is dead
Faith acts

Bottom Line:

Mark 11:22-24(NLT) "Faith of God."

Notes fromn August 23rd -- The Victory Parade

The devil is the biggest loser of all time. How do we enforce our victory?

Jas 4:7(MSG) So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper.

Jas 4:7(GW) So place yourselves under God's authority. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you.

Mat. 18:18(NLT)
Bottom Line: Isa. 14:12-19(KJV)

Notes fromn August 16th -- Walking in the Spirit

Rom. 8:5-6(NLT) Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

Notes fromn August 9th -- Faith and Grace

Eph.

Notes fromn August 2nd -- You Already Got It!

Notes from July 26th -- Where Am I Going?

We all should be asking ourselves this question. If we don't we could find ourselves somewhere we do not want to be.

2 tim. 4:7
(BBE) I have made a good fight, I have come to the end of my journey, I have kept the faith

Phil 3:14 (NLT)the mark(to dig,to look for)
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

1 Cor. 9:24 (NLT)
Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!

So we know that God has a plan for our lives, how to we find out what it is?

Heb 12:1-2(NLT)
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Jer 29:11-13(NLT)
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

When we keep reading the map,(the BIBLE) we will find our destintion!

Bottom Line:

Prov. 3:5-6 (NLT)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

During the last three weeks we discovered the answers to lifes three most important questions: Where Did I Come From?, Who Am I ?, and Where Am I Going?.

Notes from July 19th -- Who Am I?

James 1:18(NLT)
He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

  1. You are, God's prized Possession!

    Psalm 8:4-6 (NLT)
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—

  2. You are, on the same level as Jesus!!

God looks at us through Jesuss' colored glasses, when He sees us He sees Jesus!

    Psalms 139:14 (GW)
I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.

  3. You are an amazing miracle!!

    Eph. 2:10
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

  4. You are God's masterpiece!

    Rom. 8:38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  5. You are loved by God!

    Gal 4:6-7
And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. 6. You are a child of God!

  6. Jesus Died for you John 3:16
(AMP)For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

You are the most important thing in the world to God! Join us this Sunday at 10:30am, to discover the answer to the question:"Where Am I Going?". Thanks Donnie and Kari.

Notes from July 12th -- Where Did I Come From?

Gen. 1:26-27 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

God made your spirit, Mom and Dad made your body.

Rom 1:18-20 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Everybody knows there is a God, even atheists. Why do people use God's name in vain, and not budda, or some other god that people worship. It is because they really know that God is real.

God knew us before we were born.

Jer 1:5
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Before you were born I set you apart."

Psalms 139:13-14
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

James 1:18(NLT)
He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

Today we discovered "Where Did I Come From". The answer is from God and Heaven. Join us next week when we discover the answer to the question, "Who Am I?. Thanks for investing some of your time with us.

John 14:27 (AMP)
27Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth."
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God's nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:
"Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth."

Notes from June 28th -- Walking in the Spirit

Walk-live, be occupied with.

Gal. 5:25 (NLT)Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Bottom Line:How do we walk in the spirit? We walk in the spirit by focusing our thoughts on God's thoughts.

Rom. 8:5-6(NLT) Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

We walk in the spirit by renewing our mind to the Word of God, and believing that we are who God says that we are. Join us on July 5th as we wrap up our teachings on "Controling of our Emotions". Thanks Donnie and Kari.

Notes from June 14th -- Who is in Control?

1 Thes.5:23
Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.

Heb 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

"We are a spirit, we have a soul, we live in a body"

Romans 7:21-25
21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

1 Cor. 9:27
I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Our spirit, the real us, should be telling our bodies what to do, not our bodies telling us what to do.

Romans 8:5-13
5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

Our minds desire food just like our bodies do, our minds eat thoughts. What kind of food are you feeding your mind? If we only feed our bodies junk food, after awhile, we will become overweight and out of shape, if we only feed our minds junk thoughts, we(our spirits) will not be in control.

1 Pet. 2:11
(MSG)Friends, this world is not your home, so don't make yourselves cozy in it.(Don't think the way they do)

1 Tim 6:12
Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.

When we get our spirit and our mind (soul) on the same team, we will win everytime.

Romans 12:2
(NLT)Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

We get our spirit and our mind (soul) on the same team, by renewing our mind (soul) to the Word of God. The key to walking in "Perfect Peace" is feeding our minds (souls) God's thoughts.(His Word, the Bible) Thanks for investing some of your time with us.

Notes from June 7th -- The New You

2 Cor. 5:17

Notes from May 31st -- Who is minding your mind?

The word minding means to pay attention to.

Psalms 119:14-15 (BBE)I have taken as much delight in the way of your unchanging word, as in all wealth. I will give thought to your orders, and have respect for your ways.

Psalms 119:14-15 (NLT)I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. I will study your commandmentsand reflect on your ways.

Study=meditate-to converse with oneself, aloud. Another word for study would be "PRATICE." Like you pratice, baseball, football, basketball, video games. When you pratice you have to pay attention. Respect, reflect= to look at intently.

Psalms 119:14-15(MSG)I delight far more in what you tell me about living
than in gathering a pile of riches.
I ponder every morsel of wisdom from you,
I attentively watch how you've done it.
I relish everything you've told me of life,
I won't forget a word of it.

Isa. 26:3(NLT)You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Psalms 1:1-2 (AMP)BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.

Prov. 4:20-23 (CEV) 20My child, listen carefully to everything I say. 21Don't forget a single word, but think about it all. 22Knowing these teachings will mean true life and good health for you. 23Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life.

Romans 8:6 (NLT)So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

This week we discovered that we should be watching what we think about. We choose what kind of life we live, by what we think about. All we have to do to live a life of perfect peace is concentrate on God's Word, the Bible. Come out to 14Forty/R12:2 next week to discover "The New You" Thanks -- Donnie and Kari.

Sermon note added: 5/20/09

"What would you if you saw some one wearing their socks over their shoes, or somebody driving a car with their eyes closed? I would think that there was something out of place with that person. We see people all the time with their emotions out of place. Jesus told His disciples on the night before He was about to go through the most emotionaly challenging time in His life, I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid (John 14:27NLT).How could Jesus be in control of His emotions, during the most challenging time in His life? He knew what the Word says about Him and His emotions. The one verse that we have been focusing on while we have been studing about our emotions is 2 Thes. 3:16 "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all".Come Join us on Sundays at 10:30 am, to find out how to be"In Control".
